Changes to Instagram shops that CANNOT be Ignored

By ibuz6hhuret Jun 24, 2023

It’s time to update the old-school information on your items! Facebook Shops and Instagram Shops are undergoing meta changes, meaning your listings must meet new requirements.

Meta will begin changing the information required to display an item on July 18, 2022. The goal is to help buyers make better decisions before checking out.

What does this mean to you? You’ll have to follow all the new requirements if you sell products on these platforms. We won’t display your products in our shop if you don’t.

But don’t stress! We understand that this can be a little bit of a hassle. That’s why we have created a list with all the changes you need to make so that your products continue to appear on Meta:

The title and description of an item cannot be the same

Meta wants to know every detail about your product. You can’t just use the item name as the description.

It is essential to convince buyers that the product description is accurate and persuasive. The descriptions should be concise, clear, and convincing. You want people to purchase your product, don’t you? What should you include to make a product’s description convincing? Here are some tips on how to write a description that Meta and your future customers will love.

Highlight the most attractive features of your product to the consumer. What makes your product special? Why should people buy your product? Explain your product in a clear, concise manner.

Use strong language to describe your product. It doesn’t have to be flowery, but it should be convincing. Use concrete nouns and active verbs to create a mental image in your customer’s head.

Don’t forget a call to action in your product description. Make it easy for the customer to perform what you ask.

Images must be at least 500×500 pixels

A picture today is worth 1000 words. When it comes to selling online, these words have to be convincing. Since potential buyers cannot examine and touch the product, they rely on images to get an idea of the item they are buying. If the images are imperfect, they could be the difference between a sale or losing out to your competition.

Resize your images and upload them again!

Descriptions cannot contain links

Remove all links from your item description. Meta tries to limit the traffic going to other sites by requiring this. The buyer can then complete the transaction in the shop.

Size is required for certain products

You should always consider an item’s size before buying it online. You don’t want something too big or too small.

The next category of items must include information on the size:

Clothing Accessories

Newborn and Baby Fashion Accessories

Costume Accessories

Check out your categories and add sizes as needed. 5. Stocks are low on certain items

There’s nothing worse than discovering that the dress you’ve been looking for (or pair of jeans, handbag …)) is out of stock. The page is still blank. You refresh the page to see if there’s a mistake. But no luck. You leave the website empty-handed, vowing never to return.

When you browse online, you probably want to quickly and easily find the product you are looking for. Having an item that isn’t in stock is a waste of space and time.

Meta hides items that have been out of stock for almost 12 months. If the item is available, please update the number of items!

What are you waiting on? By July 18, ready your products for sale on Facebook and Instagram!

Our team will gladly assist you if you are unsure how to make the changes. We’re happy to help. Just call us or send us an email. Keep calm and keep shopping!
